Newton Residence

From February to December 2005, Central took part in the construction of this private residence supporting a fast track 12-month building schedule.  Marc Truant & Associates, Inc., the Construction Manager, worked closely with Miller/Boehm Architects and our Project Manager Mike CaseyCentral was responsible for all of the rough carpentry including framing, siding, exterior trim, exterior decks with bead board ceilings, exterior windows and doors, barrels roofs and eyebrows dormers. Central also completed a larger portion of the blue board and plaster throughout the interiors.

This extraordinary residency consists of 3 levels of over 15 rooms.  These rooms include 4 bedrooms and baths, library, studies, formal and informal living rooms, home theater and a home gym. John Murphy, Central’s Field Manager led the Central team with custom work throughout.  Truant’s Superintendent, Mike McHugh worked with John efficiently and effectively to make this project run smoothly maintaining the highest level of quality within the extremely compressed schedule.

This residency is recognized as one of the first in the country built “green” as part of the pilot program by the U.S. Green Building Councils’ LEED program for homes. This home was built with recycled and rapidly renewable materials throughout.  Timber strand lumber was used for the framing of the house. Reclaimed redwood, from a winery in Pennsylvania, was used on the exterior decking. Reclaimed white oak was used on the exterior doors and interior handrails. A vast majority of the wood products met Forest Stewardship Council certification.

Fred Gutierrez, Senior Project Manager for Marc Truant & Associates, Inc.,  stated “It was a pleasure working on this job with Mike, John and the Central team.  He looked forward to the next one.”
