Nicols Village Assisted Care Facility

CENTRAL constructed this new retirement complex in Groveland, Massachusetts called Nichols Village.  The 84-acre campus, which overlooks the Merrimack River, includes 78 apartments and 16cottages.

In the early part of the last century, the idea to build Nichols Village came from a man named N. Woodburn Nichols. As an entrepreneur and a lifelong resident of Groveland, he specified in his will that a trust be established and maintained until such time that adequate funding accumulated to build a home in Groveland for elderly people. By 2001, the trust had grown to approximately $30 million. Nichols's dream is finally becoming a reality.

CENTRAL arrived on site in January 2003 to provide an extensive rough carpentry scope of work. In addition to the wood framing of the buildings, part of CENTRAL’s scope consisted of installing thousands of roof trusses, plywood sheathing and asphalt shingles to enclose the massive roof system.

CENTRAL’s carpenters were able to show their skill for framing roof turrets and farmers porches throughout the project.  This design added greatly to the character of the buildings.

Also, the CENTRAL team provided detailed exterior trim work on all of the buildings and installed Certainteed cementious shake shingles and stucco panels.

While construction of the main building was ongoing, Chris Witowski and his crew worked hard building the Nichols Village Cottages with the same attention to detail.

Throughout an extremely cold and snowy winter, CENTRAL’s employees pressed on to keep this large project on schedule.
